Anti-lock Braking System, ABS
If this light stays on then most possible your brakes are worn below limit.
Know your dashboard warning lights,
Here are some warning lights which should come on when you start your car then go off after few seconds, if fitted. Always refer to the vehicles handbook.
Brake System Warning Light
This light indicates that the handbrake is on, if its still on after released, may be the brake fluid is low,and needs topping.
ABS & Brake System Warning Lights
If both of these lights come on then stop the vehicle as soon its safe to do so, get it checked out by dealer or garage.
Battery Charge Warning Light
if it illuminates while driving, your battery is not being charged as there is a fault with your charging system. This may be due to one of the following;
slack battery or starter terminals, a broken or loose alternator drive belt
an alternator failure.
Oil Pressure Warning Light
If the light stays on after starting or illuminates during a journey, stop immediately, switch off the engine and check the engine oil level.Top up straight away if the level is low. If the warning lamp illuminates, even though the oil level is correct, do not start the engine and seek assistance.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) partially blocked
Bit of soot gathers up in the exhaust especially when vehicle is driven at low speeds, to clear the warning light drive for 10 minutes or so at speeds greater than 40mph. Even some vehicles that have been driven on the motorways it seems that on cars with a very high sixth gear engine revs are too low to generate sufficient exhaust temperature, occasional harder driving in lower gears should be sufficient to burn off the soot in such cases.
Engine Warning Light
it indicates a malfunction with the engine management system. Have this checked as soon as possible, also comes in red.
Fuel filter water trap (diesel engines)
it indicates that water has been detected in the fuel filter.Normally the vehicle is quite safe to drive, but have the accumulated water in the fuel filter drained off as soon as possible.
